Apple brought back the best Mac colorway with the new M3 MacBook Pro

Apple’s latest MacBook Pro notebooks
have arrived with an impressive internal upgrade, primarily driven by the powerful M3 processor lineup. However, the real showstopper for design aficionados is the revival of the classic space black color option, joining the existing silver and space gray models.
This development takes us back to Apple’s iconic “BlackBook” MacBook from 2006, which laid the foundation for the design language that still defines Mac notebooks today. While the original BlackBook featured a matte polycarbonate finish, the new MacBook Pro boasts the same robust aircraft-grade aluminum construction seen in recent models. This time, it’s offered in a darker shade, not quite a pitch-black but significantly closer than any Mac in recent memory.
Apple’s recent product and accessory designs have largely shied away from black

opting instead for a “Midnight” tone in the Apple Watch and the MacBook Air. While visually appealing, these alternatives sometimes take on a bluish tint under certain lighting conditions and are notorious for collecting fingerprints. The new space black MacBook Pro, however, comes with a special treatment that repels fingerprint smudges, addressing a common concern among users.
For those who place a premium on a sleek, professional appearance, the return of a true black (or very dark gray) metal computer is a noteworthy comeback. While space gray had its charm, it was more of a compromise. Space black carries an air of gravity and sophistication that some users find indispensable.
The reintroduction of space black in the MacBook Pro lineup marks a potential end to Apple’s black color hiatus. It’s a welcome relief for those who have been yearning for a genuinely black Mac. Personally, I didn’t waste any time in ordering one to replace my 14-inch M1 Max MacBook Pro, not because I needed a more powerful processor, but because I’m thrilled to have a MacBook that exudes a sense of sleek, serious elegance once again.
